Satyanarayan Bhagwan Ki Katha: Chapter Five

Shri Sut Ji said - O great sages! Now after this I will tell another story, you all listen. There was a king named Tungadhwaj who was always ready to take care of his subjects. He suffered by abandoning the Prasad of Satyadev. Once he went to the forest and after killing many animals there, he came under the Banyan tree. There he saw that the cowherds were worshipping Lord Satyadev with devotion and satisfaction along with their relatives. Even after seeing this, the king due to ego neither went there nor did he bow down to Lord Satyanarayan. After the worship, all the cowherds kept the Lord's Prasad near the king and returned from there and all of them took the Lord's Prasad as per their wish. Here the king suffered a lot by abandoning the Prasad. All his wealth and all his hundred sons were destroyed. The king decided in his mind that Lord Satyanarayan has surely destroyed us. Therefore I should go to the place where Shri Satyanarayan was being worshipped. Having decided this in his mind, the king went to the cowherds and with the cowherds, he worshipped Lord Satyadev with devotion and faith. By the grace of Lord Satyadev, he again became rich and blessed with sons and after enjoying all the pleasures of this world, he finally attained Satyapur Vaikunthalok. Shri Sut Ji says - The person who observes this extremely rare fast of Shri Satyanarayan and listens to the story of the virtuous and fruitful God with devotion, he gets wealth and grains etc. by the grace of Lord Satyanarayan. The poor becomes rich, the one in bondage gets free from bondage, the scared person becomes free from fear - this is a true thing, there is no doubt in it. In this world, after enjoying all the desired fruits, he finally goes to Satyapur Vaikunthalok. In this way, I told you people about the fast of Lord Satyanarayan, by observing which a man becomes free from all sorrows. In Kaliyug, the worship of Lord Satyadev will give special results. Some people will call Lord Vishnu as Kaal, some as Satya, some as Ish and some as Satyadev and others will call him as Satyanarayan. By assuming many forms, Lord Satyanarayan fulfills everyone's wishes. In Kaliyug, the eternal Lord Vishnu will fulfill everyone's wishes by assuming the form of Satyavrat. O great sages! The person who daily reads and listens to this fast-story of Lord Satyanarayan, all his sins are destroyed by the grace of Lord Satyanarayan. O sages! I am telling you the story of the next birth of those people who had observed the fast of Lord Satyanarayan in the past, you all listen. Due to the effect of observing the Satyanarayan fast, the great wise man became Sudama in the next birth and in that birth he attained salvation by meditating on Lord Krishna. The woodcutter became the king of Bhil caves and in the next birth he attained salvation by serving Lord Shri Ram. Maharaja Ulkamukh became King Dasharath in his next birth, who worshipped Sriranganathji and finally attained Vaikuntha. Similarly, the religious and truthful sadhu became a king named Mordhwaj in his next birth due to the effect of his Satyavrata in his previous birth. He sawed off his son's half body and offered it to Lord Vishnu and attained salvation. Maharaja Tungadhwaj became Swayambhuva Manu in his next birth and by performing all the tasks related to the God, he attained Vaikunthalok. All the cowherds became cowherds living in Vrajmandal in their next birth and by killing all the demons, they also attained the eternal abode of God, Golok. Thus, this fifth chapter of Sri Satyanarayan Vrat Katha in Revakhand under Sri Skanda Puran is completed.
