- Take bath in the morning and wear clean clothes.
- Install the idol/picture of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi in the house or temple.
- Worship the symbol of Mount Meru (Akhand Deepak, Shankh or metal pillar).
- Offer Tulsi leaves, yellow items, flowers and incense sticks.
- Recite Vishnu Sahasranama, Vishnu Mantra and Lakshmi Stotra.
- Keep fast throughout the day and do charity in the evening.
Story of Meru Trayodashi
It is mentioned in the Puranas that Mount Meru was the basis of the churning of the ocean by the gods and demons. This fast is considered very fruitful to attain stability, power and divinity like this mountain.
