They were both very sad to have children and constantly worshiped God. One day, Lord Surya appeared to the Brahmin in a dream and ordered him to observe the Santan Saptami fast. The Brahmin couple observed this vow in accordance with the ritual and they had a beautiful and intelligent child. Since then, this fast is considered especially for the attainment of children and the happiness and prosperity of the children.
