OM bhoorbhuvah svah Tatsaviturvareṇayn Bhargo devasy dheemahi Dhiyo yo nah prachodayaat

The Gayatri Mantra is chanted for various spiritual and religious purposes, each word and syllable of it carries deep symbolism

Om:It is the universal sound and represents the ultimate reality or consciousness.

Bhur Bhuvah Swaha:These three words collectively represent the divine existence in the worldly, material and spiritual realms. These are often understood as prayers for spiritual awakening and guidance.

Tat Savitur Varenyam:This part of the mantra is an invocation to the divine light of the Sun God, Savita, asking for spiritual illumination and wisdom.

Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi:Here, the practitioner meditates on the divine light and contemplates its pure and radiant nature.

Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat:The mantra concludes with a prayer for the intellect to be guided and inspired by the divine light.
