Indira Ekadashi is celebrated on the Ekadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month according to Hindu calendar. This Ekadashi is specially dedicated to the liberation and tarpan of ancestors. It is believed that by observing this fast, ancestors attain heaven and Pitrudosha is destroyed.
Indira Ekadashi is also called Pitru Paksha Ekadashi. On this day, fasting and worshiping Lord Vishnu, as well as offering tarpan to ancestors, has special significance.

Fasting and worship method

- Perform Tarpan and Shraddha for ancestors.
- Fast and follow only fruit diet or Nirjal Vrat.
- Perform Aarti of Lord Vishnu in the evening and listen to Vrat Katha.
