There are many stories related to the origin of Brahma Dev and his work of creation. According to a major story, Brahma Dev was born from the navel of Lord Vishnu. A lotus emerged from Vishnu's navel, and Brahma was born on that lotus flower. For this reason Brahma is also called 'Nabhija'.
