On the second day of Navratri, the second form of Goddess Durga, Maa Brahmacharini, is worshipped. "Brahmacharini" means the goddess who practices austerity and celibacy. She is considered an ascetic, and worshipping her bestows penance, self-control, self-confidence, and knowledge.
Maa Brahmacharini is depicted holding a kamandalu and a rosary. She is the goddess of meditation and self-control and bestows the boon of renunciation, austerity, and strong willpower upon her devotees.
Brahmacharini Worship Method
- Bath in the morning and wear clean clothes.
- Purify the home's worship place with Ganga water.
- Install the idol or picture of Maa Brahmacharini.
- Install the Kalash and light a lamp.
- Offer her rice grains, roli, sandalwood paste, flowers, and a garland.
- Offer sugar, sugar candy, or jaggery.
- Recite Durga Saptashati or Devi Stuti.
- Chant the mantra “Om Devi Brahmacharinyai Namah”.
