Biography
Goswami Tulsidas ji was an Indian saint, poet and Ram devotee, who gave the unique book "Ramcharitmanas" to Hindi literature.
- Birth: Tulsidas ji was born in 1511 AD (according to some scholars 1532 AD) in Rajapur village (Chitrakoot) of Uttar Pradesh.
- Parents: His father was Atmaram Dubey and mother was Hulsi.
- Childhood: At the time of birth, the word "Ram" came out of Tulsidas ji's mouth, due to which he was considered a divine child.
- Guru: His guru was Narhari Das, who inspired Tulsidas ji towards Ram devotion.
- Marriage: Tulsidas ji was married to Ratnavali. His wife's words, "This body of skin and bones, this is such love.
If it had happened to Ram, then why would there be any fear?"
He got deep spiritual inspiration from this and he renounced the world and got absorbed in devotion to Ram.
Significance and Contribution
Author of "Ramcharitmanas"
Tulsidas ji presented Valmiki Ramayana written in Sanskrit in Awadhi language as "Ramcharitmanas", due to which this book reached the masses. This book reflects the ideal life of Indian culture, devotion and dignity of Purushottam Shri Ram.
Prominent poet of the Bhakti movement
Tulsidas ji presented Ram devotion in simple language and showed the common people the path of religion, policy and dignity. His couplets and quatrains are still a source of moral and spiritual inspiration.
