Story of Republic Day
Republic Day is celebrated every year on 26 January as the Indian Constitution came into force on this day in 1950, making India an independent democratic republic. The day was chosen because on 26 January 1930, the Indian National Congress declared Purna Swaraj (complete independence). The enactment of the Constitution was a turning point in the history of India.
