khatushyam
Khatu Shyamji is considered to be the incarnation of Lord Krishna in Kaliyug. His real name was "Barbarik", and he became famous due to his great strength and devotion during the Mahabharata war. The story of Khatu Shyamji is a symbol of faith and devotion and listening to it brings victory and peace in life.

The story of Khatu Shyamji

According to the legend, Barbarik was the grandson of the great Pandava Bhima and the son of Ghatotkacha. Barbarik was blessed with amazing strength and bravery since childhood. He performed severe penance of Goddess Bhagwati, pleased with which the Goddess gave him three invincible arrows (arrows) and a bow. With these three arrows, he could conquer the entire world. When the war of Mahabharata was about to start, Barbarik told his mother that he would participate in the war. He declared that he would always be with the losing side and help it. When Barbarik was going towards the battlefield, Lord Krishna blocked his way. Shri Krishna asked him about his strength. Barbarik replied that he could end the entire war with just three arrows. Shri Krishna decided to test him and asked him to pierce all the leaves of a tree with his arrows. Barbarik did so, demonstrating his strength. At that time Shri Krishna hid a leaf under his foot, but Barbarik's arrow reached Shri Krishna's feet. From this Shri Krishna understood that Barbarik's strength is incomparable. Shri Krishna also saw that if Barbarik participates in the war, the balance of the war will be disturbed and unrighteousness may win. So he asked Barbarik for his head as a donation. Barbarik gladly donated his head, but he prayed to God that he could see the entire scene of the war. Shri Krishna accepted his wish and installed his head at a high place. Barbarik's head witnessed the war of Mahabharata and after the war was over, Shri Krishna blessed him that in Kaliyug he would be worshipped by the name Shyam.
