Annapurna Mata Vrat Story And Method
Annapurna Mata is considered the goddess of food. In Hinduism, she is said to be a form of Mother Parvati. Annapurna Mata is especially observed to receive her blessings. This fast is considered extremely auspicious for food, prosperity and wealth. The person who observes this fast with devotion never faces a shortage of food and wealth in his house.
Annapurna Mata Vrat Katha
Once there was a conversation between Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati on Mount Kailash. Mother Parvati asked Shiva, "Lord, what is the most important element in the world?"
Lord Shiva said, "Knowledge is the most important in the world. Food is just a mortal thing."
Mother Parvati was saddened to hear this. She thought that if food is not important in the world, then how will people's lives go on? With this thought, Mother Parvati made food invisible from the whole world with her power.
When the food was finished, there was a famine on earth. Animals and humans, all were troubled by hunger. No creature was able to survive without food. Everyone prayed to Mother Parvati and requested her to bless them with food.
Seeing the pitiable condition of mankind, Mother Parvati again manifested food and herself appeared in the form of Annapurna Devi. She fed her devotees and removed their sorrows.
Lord Shiva accepted this power of Mother Parvati and the importance of food. He said, "O Goddess, you are truly the protector of the world. Life is not possible in the world without food. You satisfy everyone's hunger in the form of Annapurna."
