More Darsha Amavasya Vrat

When an extra month (Adhik Maas/Purushottam Maas) falls in the Hindu calendar, the new moon day of that month is called Adhik Darsh Amavasya. This date is considered especially auspicious because it occurs due to a rare coincidence. Special worship of Lord Vishnu and ancestors is significant on this day.

Importance of Adhik Darsh Amavasya

  • Taking a bath in the Ganga and performing charity on this day brings eternal benefits.
  • Worshiping Lord Vishnu destroys all sins.
  • Performing Tarpan for the peace and salvation of ancestors is considered best.
  • Fasting and observing a vrat (vow) maintains happiness and prosperity in life.

Worship Method

  • Take a pledge after bathing in the morning.
  • Worship Lord Vishnu with incense, lamps, flowers, and naivedya.
  • Recite the Gita, Vishnu Sahasranama, or listen to the story of the Purushottam month.
  • Perform Tarpan for ancestors and donate food and clothes to the poor.
